Western Treatment Plant Community Liaison Committee
The committee was established in 1998. It focuses on environmental compliance and improvements related to the plant's sewage treatment operations.
The committee of about 20 meets four times a year, at the plant. About half the members are local residents.
Meetings include regular reports by Melbourne Water, EPA Victoria and Barwon Water and discussions on topics that help the committee to understand operations and maintenance. The committee also takes an interest in discussions of the plant's Biodiversity Conservation Advisory Committee because of the interrelationship between the plant's operations and the biodiversity of wildlife on this Ramsar-listed site.
