Go for Green Program

Melbourne Water provides funding to private landowners, community groups and councils to protect and improve the health of waterways. Golf courses and other sporting facilities account for over 70 kilometres of waterway frontage across the Port Phillip and Westernport region and it is recognised that they may require financial and technical assistance to manage these waterway frontages.

In recognising the important role that golf courses and sporting facilities play in managing waterway frontages, Melbourne Water is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from golf courses to participate in the Go For Green Program. This program is designed specifically to assist golf courses in the Port Phillip and Westernport region to improve their river and creek frontage.

Through this program, golf courses with river frontage are invited to apply for up to $20,000 in funding assistance to improve the quality and extent of indigenous vegetation along waterways. Funding is available for weed control, fencing, indigenous vegetation and assistance in the development of frontage management plans. Applicants to the program are required to contribute 50% to the cost of the project, either direct financial or through an in-kind contributions.
